Float Well Spa Vancouver , Washington
Last week I visited Float Well Spa in Vancouver Washington to try out a super trio of healing treatments. I started with a five minute cryotherapy session. At first this treatment seemed a little intimidating- you start out by putting on big socks, a beanie, ear muffs, and snow gloves! Then I set the timer to five minutes and stepped into the -84 degree walk in freezer!
The first minute was extremely intense but soon my body got used to the sensation and this treatment ended up being my favorite of the day. It was like jumping into a cold ocean but coming out euphoric! My mood was instantly lifted and I felt almost like I was on a cloud.
Next was 20 minutes in the Jade Cocoon Infrared sauna. This warm and cozy pod is lined with jade stones and has a massaging bed! The heat and massage levels are completely customizable and after cryo- felt so good.
Lastly I tried out the Red Light Therapy Bed. Through the application of specific infrared light waves to tissue, this treatment allows cells to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and increase energy production. I was able to pick from a variety of treatments like stress relief, ummunity, or athletic performance.
After this trio I was totally zapped- in the most healing way. I had some lunch and then had to take a nap. During that time I had a dream about some deep emotions I felt as a teenager- it was if they were able to come to the surface and leave my body. I was very surprised by this effect but I’ve felt lighter and more relaxed ever since.
I think these experiences would be so helpful on the dark days of winter- especially the redlight therapy which gave me the happy feeling of a tanning bed without the harmful UV rays. The light is FDA approved and said to have many healing benefits including:
Expedited recovery time
Tissue strengthening
Increased blood flow
Enhanced immune response
Reduced anxiety and depression
Increased immune function
Improved sleep, and more.
Certainly the trio together has a powerful effect, I know I felt its effects on my mood for days after.
